Responsible gaming at Gbets South Africa

Gambling should stay a form of entertainment. If you feel that betting is affecting your money, time, work, family life or wellbeing, pause play and use the support routes available in South Africa.

Take a break

Time out and self-exclusion are different controls

A time out is a pause from betting. Self-exclusion is a stronger restriction that makes your Gbets account inaccessible to you and to anyone using your login details. Logging out does not create either of these controls.

The supplied Gbets terms say that a self-exclusion request can be made using the National Gambling Board application form and sent to onlinesupport@gbets.co.za. Account access can only be considered for reinstatement after at least six months, with proof of counselling from a certified medical practitioner.

Time out

Choose a break when you want distance from betting activity.

Self-exclusion

Restricts access to the account and login credentials.

Six months

Minimum period stated before a lifting request is considered.

Support contacts

Speak to someone before the situation gets harder

Gbets lists 24-hour live chat, email support at onlinesupport@gbets.co.za and telephone support on 010 634 3855. These channels can help with account questions, a pause request or steps for submitting exclusion paperwork.

For specialist gambling-related support in South Africa, contact the National Responsible Gambling Programme toll-free helpline on 0800 006 008. You can also send WhatsApp HELP to 076 675 0710. The National Responsible Gambling Programme was launched in June 2000 and is associated with the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation.

Support is useful before money problems become urgent. Talk to a trusted person as well, particularly if you have borrowed funds, hidden gambling activity or kept betting after setting a limit.

Personal limits

Use a spending and time boundary before you start

Set a fixed rand amount that you can afford to spend on entertainment, then stop when it is reached. A limit works better when it is decided before a live PSL match, a crash-game round or a casino session begins, rather than after a loss.

Do not use rent, school fees, transport money or borrowed funds for gambling. Trying to recover a previous stake by raising the next one does not change the odds or the result of the next event.

Check these signs: gambling for longer than planned, hiding activity, borrowing money, missing obligations, or feeling unable to stop after a loss.

If one or more of these signs feels familiar, use a time out, request self-exclusion or contact the NRGP on 0800 006 008.
